Traditions are important

Traditions are important because they connect us to our past, present, and future. Sometimes traditions can be painful, however; instead of entirely discarding them altogether, maybe they can be redeemed or healed. If this can’t happen, I also believe the genesis of new traditions can even be more needed and must replace the old ones. This new thing might start with you.⁣⁣⁣⁣

If you are a person feeling like something is missing in your life. If you are a person that gave up on church, family, or Jesus. If you are a person that’s pondered that in spite of all the technological advances and connection by social media there is still a deep disconnectedness. You’ve discovered that you are more than a thinking thing, but you are also a spiritual being, longing for connection.⁣⁣⁣⁣

I want to invite and encourage you to gather at a church for Christmas. It doesn’t have to be my church, and it doesn’t have to be in the church from your past. But maybe enter into a church and hear the word of God again.⁣⁣

Being a little bit older now, you might be revisiting thoughts & beliefs that you believed went dark and were irrelevant. Those traditions might be creeping back into your life.⁣ Don’t suppress them, but maybe lean into them and be honest with yourself.⁣⁣

Maybe you have kids, and you want them to connect to a part of your life that makes you, you.⁣ It is incredible seeing my daughter interact with a church family in the way that I did so many years ago.⁣⁣

Lastly, I believe there needs to be a revival of love & forgiveness in our communities. I believe with all of who I am this revival only comes from a generous love and forgiveness. Love & forgiveness first came from God’s generous gift of his one and only son. Merry Christmas! Hope to see you soon. ⁣
