Family Traditions on Holiday Weekends Never Seem to Change

No matter our age, we celebrate holidays like we’ve always done

No matter how old we are, we tend to celebrate certain holidays the same way we celebrated them with our families when we were young and growing up. We accepted these ritual holiday traditions and dinners as a matter of fact and assumed that everybody must have celebrated them the same way. There can be either a religious or secular component to Easter. They are not mutually exclusive, you can do both.

But now that we are grownups in our own right, we realize that each of us is a product of our own upbringing. No matter where we are or who we’re with, we still can’t help but remember the way things used to be. Nostalgia for a happier simpler time is a strong part of celebrating our traditional holidays in our own unique traditional way.

There is no right or wrong with celebrating as many different versions of cherished family traditions and meals and observances as there are traditions to celebrate. Since today is Easter Sunday, I will just focus on this one holiday. It means different things to different people.
