There is no introduction I could write that would be worth of Janet Jackson. My childhood hero. I remember watching the MTV Jams countdown ONLY for her videos. All of my school friends were Mariah Carey fans . . . but not me. Janet was the only star for me.

I learned all of the choreo for Rhythm Nation, Miss You Much, and the iconic If. Janet Jackson inspired my love of music, dance, and storytelling. The influence she had on my life permeated into the adult I became.

Janet received an Oscar nomination for Best Original song and this was her first foray into lead actress territory. Janet Jackson gave birth to her first child at the age of 50 (holy shit) in 2017. But before that, back in the 80s there were rumors circulating that Janet had a “secret baby” with James Debarge.

This was attributed to Janet putting on weight which made tabloids speculate that Janet was pregnant. It was the opposite actually. Janet had begun taking birth control and was gaining weight as a side effect.
